What does Invisalign treatment involve?
Invisalign treatment begins with a comprehensive in-office consultation. During your appointment, the Laser Dental Group team conducts an oral exam, reviews your dental health history, and asks about your goals for treatment. They then take oral X-rays to assess the position of your teeth and jaw.
After a thorough assessment, your dentist takes digital impressions of your teeth. They upload your impressions to a computer-aided design (CAD) program and develop a custom care plan by mapping out the movements of your teeth and jaw.
Once Laser Dental Group approves a plan, the team sends your impressions to a dental laboratory that manufactures your first set of Invisalign aligners. About a week later, you return to the office and try on your first set of aligners.
To ensure an optimal outcome, make sure to wear your aligners 20-22 hours each day. In addition, attend all follow-up appointments and follow your dentist’s instructions carefully.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The length of time Invisalign treatment takes depends on the issues being treated and your adherence to the plan. Most people see significant results within 6-12 months, but it may take 18 months or longer. Once you’re finished with Invisalign treatment, you transition to a retainer to prevent your teeth from shifting.
Do I need to clean or care for my Invisalign aligners?
To keep your Invisalign aligners in optimal shape, it’s important to clean them regularly.
